A.L.L. HARDSHIP TRUST
About the Trust
The A.L.L. Hardship Trust (AHT) was set up in May 2020 with the aim of providing financial assistance to BC legal aid lawyers who were experiencing hardship due to the effects of the COVID-19 crisis, such as court shutdowns and the consequent loss of legal aid contracts. The fund was intended as a temporary measure, with funds being disbursed from mid-2020 through late 2021 to those who demonstrated need. The fund provided 64 grants totalling over $600,000.
The Trust was inactive after 2022 when applications ceased as the pandemic’s effect on legal aid practices ended.

In 2026, the Trust expects to participate in a parental benefits program for legal aid practitioners. Check back for updates and look for an announcement soon.
