A.L.L. HARDSHIP TRUST
About the Trust
In light of the provincial state of emergency created by the COVID-19 Crisis, B.C.'s Association of Legal Aid Lawyers (A.L.L.) worked in close collaboration with the Legal Services Society, now also known as Legal Aid BC (LABC), and the office of the Attorney General of British Columbia to explore avenues for financial relief for BC legal aid lawyers.
As a result of those efforts, the A.L.L. Hardship Trust (AHT) was set up in May 2020 with the aim of providing financial assistance to BC legal aid lawyers who are experiencing hardship due to the effects of the COVID-19 crisis, such as court shutdowns and the consequent loss of legal aid contracts. The fund is a temporary measure with limited funds, for those most in need.
The AHT is independent of ALL and LABC and administered by the Trustees>.
